Wood-Land-Lakes RC&D is directed by 21 Council Board Members, and we
currently have several vacant Council positions which need to be filled.
Are YOU the missing
puzzle piece that fits in the Wood-Land-Lakes
puzzle?
Education, Forestry, Land, and Water are the four resource committees
that conduct projects and activities, benefiting rural areas, within the
six counties. Current and past projects include: training volunteers for
water quality monitoring; capping an abandoned landfill; rural fire
protection and education; plugging unused groundwater wells; promoting
farmland protection; enhancing a wooded area for tree, shrub, and
wildflower identification; sponsoring tours, field days, and workshops;
woodland management; forestry projects; conservation education;
leadership development; watershed plans & implementation; coordinating
hunters, growers, and farmers with local food pantries; promoting local,
homegrown products; and historic restoration.
As you can see, the projects we get involved with are very diverse.
Wood-Land-Lakes helps to identify needs,
agrees on a plan of action, secures resources, implements the plans, and
then evaluates the results. What a great way to fit all of the pieces of
the natural resource puzzle together!
Established in 1994 by interested local citizens, Wood-Land-Lakes brings
people together to find solutions to rural development needs which then
become opportunities for improving our area’s environmental, economic
and social well-being. The key to the Council’s success is the
commitment of local citizen volunteers solving our own natural resource
problems.
If you find that you are the “missing piece to our puzzle,” please
contact any of the Wood-Land-Lakes Council Board Members or the office
at 260.665.3211, ext. 5 or
