Rural Community Development
(updated 06.27.08)

Volunteers are the backbone of Wood-Land-Lakes.  We address rural issues, impacting all rural residents; promote leadership development, provide organizational structure; and promote partnerships to increase community involvement in rural natural resource issues. We also provide clerical assistance and serve as financial administrator of grants and other funds.

Active projects, partners, and links include:

  • Buying Local Makes Sense ~ Where can I purchase locally grown produce and other products and why would I want to?

  •  Going Local ~ sources for delicious, healthy, locally grown, and in-season foods.

  • Tax Incentives for Business ~ included in the 2008 Economic Stimulus Package.

  • MarketMaker ~ Links Indiana producers to consumers.

  • An Indiana Agritourism Directory has been compiled ~ search for an agritourism location or add your agritourism business to the directory.

  • DeKalb County Parks Initiative ~ Help revive the endeavor.

  • Agritourism ~ is defined as a working farm or any agricultural, horticultural or agribusiness operation with the purpose of enjoyment, education or active involvement in the activities of the farm or operation. Click on the link for more information and a FREE resource guide!
